The short answer: OHP covers dentures in qualifying cases

The truth: OHP covers dentures when they're medically necessary, typically once per 10 years per arch. How qualification actually works
OHP looks at medical necessity, not cosmetics. In practice, that means documentation showing your remaining teeth are non-restorable or already gone, and that missing teeth are affecting your ability to eat and stay healthy. The main rules of thumb:
- Once per 10 years per arch is the typical replacement window — if OHP bought you a denture 12 years ago, you're likely eligible again.
- Full dentures are approved more reliably than partials. Partials are covered in narrower situations, so we plan around that honestly from the start.
- Extractions and immediate dentures can often be bundled into one approved plan, so you're never left toothless while paperwork moves.
- Relines and repairs to keep an existing denture serviceable are commonly covered too.

The pre-authorization process, step by step
Step 1 — Free consultation. Bring your OHP member number. We examine your mouth, take X-rays, and tell you plainly whether your case is likely to qualify — before you spend anything.
Step 2 — We submit the pre-authorization. Our front desk sends the clinical notes, X-rays, and forms to your coordinated care organization (CCO). You don't chase anything.
Step 3 — The wait. Most CCOs respond in 2–6 weeks. We track it and call you the moment a decision arrives.
Step 4 — Treatment. Once approved, your dentures take about 3–6 weeks to design and deliver, with a wax try-in so you approve the smile before it's final.

A denial is frustrating, but it's rarely the end of the road. You have the right to appeal and request a hearing, and when the clinical case supports it we strengthen the documentation and resubmit — persistence genuinely pays here.
